Essential
Women: The Soul Solidarity Project
was created to show "unity in song" with
an array of gifted, female singers whose common goal
is to give back to charities that support women's
issues. This groundbreaking project, created by African-American
women for African Diaspora women, will serve as a
salute to "sisterhood" and empowerment worldwide.
The Soul Solidarity Project is a collaboration
with Susan L. Taylor and Essence Communications, Inc.
to bring together a stellar choir of prominent women
performers from all genres. Sheila Eldridge and Dyana
Williams, co-founders of IAAAM and the producers of
the Soul Solidarity Project, originally conceived
the Soul Solidarity concept and are now creative consultants
to Essence Entertainment and its parent company Essence
Communications.
Music industry veterans, Sheila Eldridge and Dyana
Williams are the creative directors of the project.
Contemporary gospel artist, Yolanda Adams, multifaceted
Queen Latifah, producer/artist extraordinary Missy
Elliot, as well as hip hop/pop sensation Eve, poet
laureate Dr. Sonia Sanchez, Chante Moore, Melba Moore,
Mikki Howard, Lina, Pru, and Jean Carne, have committed
to be involved. Artists from major/independent record
companies are also being invited to tend their talents
to this historic endeavor.
