Sheila Eldridge

Sheila Eldridge has acquired more than 25 years of experience in the fields of broadcasting, corporate communications, entertainment & product marketing and public relations. She is a graduate of the School of Communications at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she began her professional career in broadcasting at WHUR-FM. She later spent spent three years at KACE-FM in Los Angeles.

In 1977, Sheila started her promotional career at Casablanca Records where she worked in the Marketing and Promotions group promoting such artists as Donna Summer, Cher and Parliament. She moved on to Elektra Entertainment as Director of National Publicity and Artist development where she honed her public relations skills and completed a two-year program at UCLA specializing in Crisis Management and New Communications Technology.

Sheila always knew that she was destined to be an entrepreneur and founded Orchid Communications, a full-service communications firm. With offices in Los Angeles and New Jersey along with a viable network of associates nationwide, Orchid’s roster of clients was culled from the major music and entertainment circle. They include Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the O’Jays, Ice T, EnVogue, and Yolanda Adams to name a few. Drawing on her knowledge from UCLA along with her astute business savvy, Orchid Communications expanded its services to incorporate sports and corporate clients and became Miles Ahead Entertainment.

Miles Ahead Entertainment (MAE) has become a boutique operation, specializing in public relations, publicity and lifestyle marketing. As a boutique agency, it provides hands on personalized service for its clients, both internally and externally, when dealing with the press. This approach has firmly established a strong platform that builds a lasting image. The company’s marketing and public relations strategies are developed to create common cost-effective synergy that can maximize public relations value, brand loyalty and corporate endorsements for its clients. Corporate clients include Black Enterprise, PSE&G (New Jersey’s largest utility company), Colgate-Palmolive, Coca-Cola USA, ABC Radio Network, Miller Brewing Company, the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, and sport clients –Milwaukee Bucks’ Ray Allen and Denver Broncos’ Terrell Davis.

Over the years Sheila has found time in her demanding schedule to devote to her family. She is a devoted mother and daughter, often setting time aside from her hectic career as a successful entrepreneur to be with her son, Brent. Wearing many hats (her trademark) has become almost second nature to her. “I’d say establishing the quality time that I need to spend with him (Brent) has been the test for me as a woman and most importantly, as a mother,” reflects Sheila. “I love my work. There are certain things you have to do when you have your own company and my family and friends have been great in supporting me in this area.”
